The Wildflower Inn in Ewing, New Jersey, is perhaps one of the more disappointing restaurants that I have visited in recent times. I had great expectations for it, given the many great reviews that I had heard from family and friends, but unfortunately, it fell flat. I set out with very high hopes- you know the feeling when you are about to have a great meal- I fed the pets, set the home ADT security alarm, got my jacket, and drove to the restaurant. But the trouble started before I even parked. The entire parking lot was full. This is not a large restaurant, mind you, and it is in a small part of town, but the lot was ludicrously small, even for such a small business. I found parking nearby and had to wait about thirty minutes before I was seated.T he wait staff was just okay. They were attentive enough, but the restaurant was definitely understaffed. Given this, I am thinking that maybe it was a fluke that they were so busy, but first impressions are important. I only got one offer of a refill on my iced tea all night. The food was also just okay. I ordered an appetizer of mozzarella sticks, which were delicious, but it’s really impossible to fry cheese and have it taste anything but good. My entrĂ©e was a swordfish steak with a mango salsa. This was delicious, but I did have to send it back the first time because it was undercooked. I did not order desert.

Overall, I’d give the restaurant three out of five stars. I’m not extremely eager to return, but perhaps next time, if they are not as busy, my experience will be better.
