If you haven’t noticed that kids these days have it all, then you have missed the boat. My how so much has changed since I was a kid. That was not very long ago in all reality. Things like iPods… I had a walkman radio. Then you have cell phones… We had a house phone, and that was it. If you took anything to school that didn’t belong in school you lost it for good. Even a car was something I would have had to work for when I was younger. In these times parents just give their children cars.
In todays day, and age the latest in must have fashions with the young kids is the big thing. My little one wants a cell phone, or an iPod so bad that she tells me all the kids have one. So I told her when she gets a job, and can pay the bill for it that she can have one. Then I find myself telling her how lucky the kids of her generation are, and that when I was a kid we never had any of this stuff. She made me laugh and feel real old at the same time when she said how horrible my life must have been to not have a cell phone, or even ipods. Now she actually does save for things she wants that we won’t buy. Cell phones are at the top, and will remain there. (She can’t have a cell phone just to have a cell phone.)
I am a firm believer that children don’t need a cell phone. When they get into high school maybe, but not before then. What are you actually teaching your children by giving them a cell phone? I see them as a dependecy issue. Parents can’t be without their kids so they give them a cell phone so that they can keep tabs on them, or the kids have so much freedom that they need a cell phone just to be reached in their ever so “BUSY” lives.
Slow down, and try to teach your kids the values that they need to learn. If you ever watch how some children act, then you understand exactly what I am saying. There are children that can earn what they have, and then there are others that just kick, and scream until they get what they want. Those are the kids that make it nowhere in life. I have seem kids while I was shopping that have a phone, and they just sit there, and text. Must be nice to have that kind of cash to spend. Just think… These are the same children that will look after us when we get older.
Picture this… Needing help getting to the store from you kids only to find out that they couldn’t get your call because they were busy texting, or chatting about absolutelly nothing important. As parents we have all contributed to our children being so “LOST” in the world of Irresponsibility.
Think about it people… Don’t you agree that half of the kids you find taking care of you at stores are just rude, and obnoxious?
While on the topic I found this picture that just about says it all…
