I want to apologize to all of you that have been stopping by for not having much for you to read lately.  I’m sorry I have not had the time to blog much this past week. You see I have been very busy with remodeling my little ones play room. She informed us that it is too crowded for her to play in. And she would like to make it a little more grown up. So after talking with hubby over this he was all for it.

So off me, and her went to go through the mess we call a playroom. In doing this I didn’t know what I was getting myself into. She told me she is to old to keep all her baby dolls, Barbie’s, and some other toys. This made me very sad. I told her I played with all that type of stuff until I was 15 years old. After laughing at me she then informs me she will be turning 10 this year and that’s double digits. I then told her that it’s not like she was going to be 18, and that she needed to slow down. She said no, but I will be a pre teen mom.

Now I don’t know about how any other parents would feel about this, but it is very upsetting to me. Kids today are in too much of a rush to grow up, and sometimes we do we wish we could be carefree kids again, as I know sometimes I do. I’m not too upset with her, as she does have stuff she refuses to part with like her Littlest Pet Shop, stuffed animals, and games, which by the way does fill most of the room.

Now that the room was emptied out it was time to pick a paint color. Even though what she had was fine to me, it was too young for her. It was a light purple with pink crowns stamped all over, and a pretty border of the Disney princesses with matching curtains. I guess I can see her point a little, after all I set this room up when she was like 2 years old. I thought I would not have to do it again until she was 13, or older. So now she picks a nice turquoise color, and she did want to keep the pink trim, but did want to get rid of the curtains. We also added a small couch that we had sitting around. We might put her old TV in the room for her Wii to go onto so that she can play it with her friends when they come over, rather than everyone being in her room.

All this made her happy, and she loves it, and I love the fact that even though it looks more grown up to her that it’s still a little kids room to me. As for me making more room for her to play in, well she still has way to much stuff.

Pat…Never said getting rid of.  Never said wasn’t working properly.  She wanted a bigger one for her room.  The old tv will be for when friends are over.
