I Want To Learn About Computers

A few months ago I asked hubby to show me how to do more stuff on the computer for our blogs, and more. Like when it comes to my site he does a lot of things for me that I don’t know how to do. I told him how I felt it would be a good thing for him to show me how to do the free web directory submissions. Now you would think he would have loved this idea because it would be less that he has to do for me. But he says he just doesn’t have the time right now to show me the ins and outs of using a computer the way he does. This was the point I was trying to make to him. He would have the time if he would just show me how. But instead I feel like he tries to keep me in the dark about it like it’s a big top secret thing. I’m sure it’s not very hard like he makes it out to be, but if I try it and mess up my computer he has to fix it and I have to hear about it for life. So I feel it’s best to let him keep his secret until he wants to share it with me. What do you think?

I’ve been looking for a good, and yet cheap laptop for travel, and just kicking around each of the times that I’m at the stores, and I have time to look. It’s just one of the things on our little ones X-MAS list. So the other day when I was at a store I found cute, and cheap netbooks. This really looked like a possibility to me as it looked more like it was designed for a young kid. The salesperson didn’t know much about them, so I called hubby to ask him if a netbook was the same thing as a notebook being that I know so little about computers. I tell you that it’s almost like his computer knowledge is top secret, and he doesn’t want to share information with me. All he would say is that it’s not a laptop. He said that it was hard to explain the difference to me. I figured out that much. He wouldn’t give me much more information. He just told me that it wouldn’t be enough for her.

Finding What You Need

When it comes to school projects, and reports I’m so clueless. I take the little one to the local library, and still have a hard time finding everything that I need. So I asked my friend where see finds the stuff that she needs because her kid always finds a lot of info, and photos. She told me that they use a web directory on the internet. She told me that you can find most anything on the web. I so hate looking up things on the internet because it’s easy to get a virus, or spyware even. But I will say I have an easier time finding stuff for her reports. On top of that when we go to the library I do most of the work looking for the books she needs. Now she can look up whatever she needs on her own at home.

Finding Info On The Web With Web Directories

When it comes to the World Wide Web I seem to learn something new every day. I think it’s because my hubby works on computers, and knows a lot about the web, and computers. What happened was two days ago I had to make an important phone call, and I couldn’t find a phone book. I asked hubby for help because I never can find anything in this house when I need to, kind of like the car keys, shoes, and now the phone book. So I told hubby I couldn’t make the call because the phone book ran away.

In our house everything seems to run away, and I am always blaming him. (Sometimes it’s me that moves something, and can’t find it.) That is when he said well then why didn’t you go on the internet, and look it up on a web directory? He then made a joke by asking if I had also lost my laptop. So I told him yes, it ran away with the phone book. Now if I only knew about this earlier then I would have saved myself from the hassle of asking him for help.

Wasting My Time

Let me start by saying that I’m not a computer whiz like my hubby. He owns a computer business, and knows a lot.

What amazes me is how big a hard drive is so that it fits a lot of data on it, and how small a compact flash is. I didn’t know what one was, but he explained all about them. Now when I asked hubby why, or how this is possible he gives a long winded explanation kind of like when a doctor talks to me about something in medical terms.

I just don’t get it at all so I just smile, and say wow that’s really interesting while I’m really thinking that 25 minutes of my life is now gone, and I’ll never get them back. I still don’t know why, or how it is done because I am totally lost when it comes to computers.

My Laptop Repair

I just got my recently acquired Sony Vaio laptop repaired by my husband over at MyBlogs4U. The laptop wasn’t working correct, and I know the level of service is excellent. Turned out that the screen needed to be replaced.

I liked the Sony Vaio because it has Windows Vista, a DVD with lightscribe, Webcam, lots of memory (I think he said 3GB), Memory Card Reader, Bluetooth (Don’t know what it is), Wireless Internet, and best of all… It’s PINK.

He didn’t understand why I needed a laptop, but I explained it to him in man terms. Now I have a laptop when I go away, or whatever. He always ties up his laptop when we are on vacation in Disney, and now that I have a blog I need to keep up with everything. He doesn’t like the pink color, but who cares.

Well, back to my surfing.
