I’m a big fan of reality tv shows. I love watching reality tv shows. The things people do just to be on tv. One of the shows i really find interesting is the Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Even though I feel bad for some of the problems these celebrities are going through I sometimes wonder if they are there to really get help with their problem, or just to get on tv. I mean not everyone that goes to a rehab center gets the kind of luxuries that they get. I’m not to suprised when I hear that they relapsed or even some end up back at the rehab. I feel that if they were really into getting help and staying this way that any California / Malibu rehab would do just fine. Most of them want the luxury and let’s not forget that they are tv stars again even if it is for the wrong reason. It is like they say… Any attention even negative attention is better than none. I often wonder if the tvs weren’t there if they would still go there to get the help they need.

Do you feel reality tv shows sometimes go too far with the type of shows they put on?

Recently hubby was talking to one of the companies that we work with, and he was asked to help spread the word about the Zoe Marie Brain Tumor Research Fund. We don’t mind spreading the word about something that is being done for a good reason, so he agreed that we would help.

So what is this fund you ask…

As a child, Zoë was full of life and quick to share her infectious laugh. From the outset, she was a “charmer,” always able to get her point across. At the tender age of seven months, Zoë was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive tumor found in the cerebellum and spinal areas of children younger than three years old. Marie and Daniel Maggipinto, Zoë’s parents, knew from the beginning there was only a 20-25% chance their little girl would survive but they threw themselves into the fight with the help of St. Jude Hospital. Even with that powerful team, Zoë passed away just after Thanksgiving in 2002. The Zoë Marie Brain Tumor Research Fund was created to continue the fight against childhood illness so that other families may have greater hope.

Being a mother I can’t imagine what it would be like to know that my child only had a 20-25% chance of living. I understand that there are many diseases / sicknesses out there, but this one seems to be one of the worst. Prior to reading, and hearing about this I honestly had never heard of AT/RT. I can only imagine that this is because of the rarity of the disease.

If you would like to help with the research that is necessary to try and learn more about the sickness, then please visit NonnasGourmetFoods.Com, and make a purchase. Every purchase counts. A 15% donation is made from each, and every sale made.

If you are a blogger, and would be willing to help the cause, then please let me know by emailing me @ DMarsden92@MomsBlogs4U.Com.

Guest posted by Karen Tober

The Wildflower Inn in Ewing, New Jersey, is perhaps one of the more disappointing restaurants that I have visited in recent times. I had great expectations for it, given the many great reviews that I had heard from family and friends, but unfortunately, it fell flat. I set out with very high hopes- you know the feeling when you are about to have a great meal- I fed the pets, set the home ADT security alarm, got my jacket, and drove to the restaurant. But the trouble started before I even parked. The entire parking lot was full. This is not a large restaurant, mind you, and it is in a small part of town, but the lot was ludicrously small, even for such a small business. I found parking nearby and had to wait about thirty minutes before I was seated.T he wait staff was just okay. They were attentive enough, but the restaurant was definitely understaffed. Given this, I am thinking that maybe it was a fluke that they were so busy, but first impressions are important. I only got one offer of a refill on my iced tea all night. The food was also just okay. I ordered an appetizer of mozzarella sticks, which were delicious, but it’s really impossible to fry cheese and have it taste anything but good. My entrée was a swordfish steak with a mango salsa. This was delicious, but I did have to send it back the first time because it was undercooked. I did not order desert.

Overall, I’d give the restaurant three out of five stars. I’m not extremely eager to return, but perhaps next time, if they are not as busy, my experience will be better.

The Brew Crew sent a car service to pick us up, and take us to the function. When we arrived we were immediately checked in, and given our silent auction books. We were then directed to the foyer area where a cocktail hour was already going on. We were treated to Hors D’oeuvres made by Chef Elise Wiggins from Panzano Restaurant in Denver made Triple M Lamb Polpete, and a Grapefruit Spoon. A Live Auction was held prior to any dining. There were 2 packages available. Both were successful in raising over $15,000 for the Dress For Success organization. We had overheard that even Tommy Hilfiger was in attendance.

The First Course of dinner came made by Chef Jen Biesty from Scala’s Bistro in San Francisco. We were served a salad with olive oil poached prawn. There was a wine pairing by Diageo and Emily Wines. There were several success stories from Dress For Success brought on stage, and one of them was asked to share her story of success. This was a very touching story. The Second Course of dinner came made by Chef Keira Moritz from Pacci Ristorante in Atlanta. She made a Filet with truffle mushroom bread pudding. There was again a wine pairing by Diageo and Emily Wines. During diner a selection from Love, Loss and What I wore by Nora and Delia Ephron was read. There was a silent auction of a lot of different items that were donated by many different sponsors. The Third Course of dinner was presented by Chef Elise Wiggins of Panzano Restaurant in Denver once again. She had prepared a Lavender Infused chocolate Pate with a raspberry sauce.

Being we had a babysitter at home we couldn’t stay much longer and unfortunately missed the Toast To Our Mothers. I was a bit sad that I didn’t get to stay for everything, but am happy that I got to experience this at all. I would like to thank Coffee-Mate / Brew Crew for the opportunity to meet other Brew Crew members, and share in this lovely event. Hubby and I had a great time, and enjoyed everything.

In my house we get so much junk mail that it piles up. Now when I get it I throw it out as we get it so it doesn’t pile up. This is because my bills get mixed in with the junk mail, and it gets lost. Hubby has a big fit that I do this because I throw away most ad magazines. He was really upset when I got rid of an emi shielding brochure because he wrote an important number on it. The biggest problem is that when I put it aside for my hubby to go through to make sure he doesn’t want any of the stuff it just piles up until it gets to be such a big pile that I have to throw it out because I don’t want to see it anymore. He isn’t understanding because half of this stuff is stuff that he doesn’t need. I think he keeps it so he has paper to write phone numbers, and notes on.

Maybe he should just use a notepad like the rest of the world.

I’m just so sick and tired of all my bills going up every year. One of the ones like my auto insurance that has gone up a lot over the years, and nothing has changed is the most annoying. I never got a ticket, or gotten into an accident yet, so I do I feel that I’m a good driver. So I recently told hubby that I would like to look into changing my insurance carrier, and maybe this would make it cheaper for us by doing making a change. That’s when he informed me that we won’t save any money. It’s so high because of the fees they charge, and that they all do this. I think he just doesn’t want to switch because it’s not only to much work, but it can be a pain to make changes. It does bother me that I have to pay a high amount, and I’m a good driver. I do feel good drivers should get some kind of a discount on their insurance.

What do you think about this, and how bad is your insurance?

One time during one of our many drives to Florida I saw a house on the back of a truck. Now I thought I had seen everything, so I turned to hubby and said “They must like their house so much that they are taking it on vacation with them.” He looked at me, and asked what I was talking about so I told him. He had said quite some time ago that some people fly, and pay to have their car delivered to them at the destination. During our drive I get bored, and tired so I try to find ways to keep everyone on their toes. I was only kidding by my comment, because I was saying that these people must have a lot off love for their house in order for them to want to take it with them. That’s when I got a long boring story on manufactured homes. That was 5-10 minutes of my life that I will never get back. So now when we drive to Florida I try not to say anything, and it’s not easy because I see a lot of strange things on the way there.

With our economy in the tank I am tempted to take the house with me if I ever decide to move. Just unbolt it, and wheel it away. Don’t I wish it was that easy…?

In this day and age as I notice more businesses operating online then they did years ago. This makes me wonder if the people they hire to run the business took any sort of masters information security courses. I know my hubby says all the time how the internet is not safe, and you have to watch what you do on it. All of the businesses, and government agencies use it for everything, and it seems like they don’t have many worries about the growing risks and threats to their data privacy. Could it just be that they feel that safe, and secure in who they hire to work for them.

They must have taken some kind of courses to help them analyze, and strategize in unconventional ways to help innovative problem solving. All I know is hubby always says you can’t be too careful no matter what you do. Someone is always finding ways around things.

When it comes to jobs I think that in the past my hubby has done it all over the past many years. For years he’s been running his own computer business, and was doing well at it until now. Things are just slow so to pay our bills he has been looking for a good job doing something that he likes. I told him maybe he could take a GMAT prep test to see what he can do.

The GMAT is a test to help him find out what kind of job he would be good at. I think that it would make it easier for him to find a job. If you had a job you liked for years, and had to find a new one would you look for the same kind of job, or something totally different.
