I haven’t had to work for quite some time. Hubby has made it so that I can stay home and take care of the little one so that we can avoid sitters, etc. We do not like to leave the little one home alone at her age. Unsupervised children do not usually get anything productive, or condoned done. This is very nice of him, but sometimes I really wonder what I would, or could do when it came to getting a job. I have been talking to hubby about going and getting my GED, and he has made some very good points. At this point of time in my life I would need to make extremely good money for it to be beneficial to us. After paying for the gas in the car, work clothes, and any sitters that are necessary my paycheck would be mostly gone.

I only regret not finishing up my GED back when I first met hubby because I only failed by 2 points, and it was because I had just met hubby, and my mind wasn’t where it belonged. Not having a H.S. diploma, or a GED makes it hard to get something like physician assistant jobs, and to top that off you can’t even get a job at a McDonalds without one of them.

Last week we decided that we needed to go out and get a new propane grill. This is because over the years the weather, and my now deceased dog took a toll on the grill that we had. The dog would chew the igniter button off the grill, and also chew the cover. The weather made certain parts rust out bad. After getting the new grill hubby and I discussed if we could get anything for the old grill. He told me that just the grill would not be cost-effective to scrap. We asked our neighbor if he wanted the grill and he told us that he would put it with the rest of the stuff he was collecting like a stainless steel drum, aluminum, and some copper wiring.

I talked to hubby about possibly gathering some things that could be recycled for money. He said that he doesn’t want to have junk lying around while we pile up enough to get rid of.

What do you think?

I’ve been helping hubby with work and it seems like it’s the same thing time in and time out. When people buy a TV and a home theater system they seem to think that when they pay for a TV installation that it covers it all. They get so mad at hubby who tells them that it doesn’t cover a new hook up. Then you have to hear how much they paid for this installation which I will say is very high but most of that money we don’t see anyway. He does all the work and the companies make probably more than two thirds of the money. Sometimes I really don’t understand why they have to be so money hungry. Maybe if they lowered their profit margin they would sell more home theater, or tv installations.

For the past 7 months I’ve been going on jobs with hubby when he needs a helper as long as they are jobs I can do. One of the reasons I do this is that the jobs don’t always pay enough for a second person. The second reason is that it’s more money for us to pay our bills with, and hubby told me that if we get the bills down by me working with him he will redo my kitchen. So it seems like now that were almost good on bills he keeps telling me after we do a job that maybe me working with him was a bad idea. This is because it not only makes it a little harder on him because he has to do it all, but also because I’m short and I can’t hang TV’s in high places. I knew going into this that I should have asked for a cash advance because now if he hires someone to work I won’t get what I wanted because we won’t have the money. You know what that means… I just worked for the past 7 months for nothing. Maybe I should have gotten it in writing. When I tell him this he jokes and says call the labor board on me see where that gets you. All I know is that one way or another I will get paid. That’s why they call those plastic cards that everyone has credit cards, and he can see where that gets me.

While I talk about working for FREE… Here is a comical picture my hubby took on our way home from Disney one year. I hope this guys wife doesn’t want anything nice for BDays, Holidays, or anything else for that fact.

Many times I have searched for easy ways to make money with my computer. I had found one way that in the end was more of a pain than it was worth. What I had found was Shoppers Hotline. This is a system that awards you for scanning purchases made. They send you a portable barcode scanner, and each night you put it in the dock, and it uploads the info to their servers.

I tried it out for a few months, but the points never seemed to increase much. I ended up giving up, and sending back the equipment, as it was very tedious to scan each thing, or whatever I chose. I just recently found out that they stopped their program. I wonder if they had that many people not finding “The quick buck” in their system.

If you are looking to make money, then I would suggest looking into whatever you are thinking of doing before actually doing it.

Not that I like diamonds, or anything else really expensive costing normally, and I could sell them. They told me that I would need some good luck with living in my dream world. I guess this is why E-bay doesn’t work for everyone.

I have a friend who once in a while when she feels up to it will go on my daily walks around the neighborhood with me. One day when we were walking, and I was telling her how I pick up any money that I find, and how this helps motivate me to walk everyday. She said that that was weird because she does that at work when she’s on her lunch. Now for the past few months when I walk, and find any change I would call her to tell her how much I found. She always says “That’s good, but I found more than that.” Now it’s like a game to us to see who can find the most money in a day. So far she’s wining so I’m thinking of telling her that I found some loose diamonds on my walk because I don’t like to lose at games. But with my luck shell probably find a lottery ticket that someone lost, and it will have been worth more than my diamonds. I’m not much of a sore loser because no matter how much we find it’s more than we had.

So are you the type of person that picks up change no matter how small, or do you toss it because it’s just change?

For the past fifteen years hubby owns his own business and in the beginning he only took cash, or checks from his customers. So when we started getting more people wanting to pay by credit cards he asked me if we should look into merchant services. When we found one we liked we had it for maybe 9 years, but the problem was that even when no one buys any products with a credit card you still have to pay them for service.

So in looking for ways to save some money we dropped them, and are back to cash, or checks. I will say some costumers get mad when he tells them that he only takes cash, or checks, and he has lost some sales because of it. To keep costs low we had to cut it, or raise the prices, and the low prices are why he’s done so well.

Do you think a small business should have to take credit cards at all?

When I decided to start my own blog I took some advice from my husband who also has a blog, or two. Some people blog for money, or products, and others blog to blog. My husband explained all about blog marketing to me. I don’t understand all of it, but I am learning.

One way to get your product noticed is for a company to advertise on blogs. By doing this your product will not only get to be seen by millons of pepole on the internet but they can find out firsthand what someone else thinks of it, and how it worked for them. People research items all the time so that they don’t waste their money. By having an ad on a webpage it sometimes will get noticed faster then a tv commercial. Even though a lot of pepole watch tv they don’t always pay as much attention to the commercials as they do if they were on the internet. People also know that majority of the commercials are showing paid actors, or real people that had good things to say about a product, and not the ones that have negative to say.

Some companies offer free products to bloggers in exchange for real reviews. People want to see real impressions, and not scripted ones. Either way you go bloggers stand to make money blogging, or earn free products. Advertisers gain sales by means of truthful reviews of products.
